ɫ University Accounting Graduates No. 11 Among Country's Highest Earning

finds that accounting graduates from ɫ earn among the highest salaries when compared with accounting graduates from other private colleges and universities in the nation.

ɫ University accounting graduates’ salaries rank No. 11 in the private school category. Only two universities in the Washington metro area stand in the top 20.

The rankings were compiled by the Burning Glass Institute, a nonprofit that analyzes employment trends.

ɫ University accounting graduates make an average of $80,205, according to the Journal.

“This ranking is a great credit to our students and faculty, not just in our accounting area but across the school,” said Andrew V. Abela, dean of the Tim and Steph Busch School of Business. “It is a testament to all the hard work and dedication that has built up the Busch School since our founding a mere 10 years ago,” said Abela, who is also ordinary professor of marketing.

Professor William Kirst led the Department of Accounting at the Busch School's founding in 2013 until 2022. The department is now led by Robert Felix, director of accounting and associate professor of accounting.

ɫ’s accounting program emphasizes learning via the real-world experience of the faculty. All faculty are CPAs and have considerable work experience in the private or public sector. Students work with the same professor mentor during their four years and each student is paired with an upperclassman accounting major. Personalized instruction includes a first accounting class with just 16 students. All other accounting classes range from 15 to 20.

Recently, 60% of CatholicU accounting students had a full-time job offer eight months before graduation. At graduation, 100% of them had full-time offers. Also, 50% of juniors had a summer internship eight months in advance of the summer. Graduates receive offers from prestigious global firms such as Deloitte, Ernst & Young, KPMG, and PricewaterhouseCoopers.
