The Ph.D. in Computer Science program consists of a minimum of 53 credit hours beyond the bachelor's degree plus a dissertation.

The curriculum for ��ɫ��'s Ph.D. in Computer Science program is structured to provide an in-depth and comprehensive education in advanced computer science concepts and research methodologies.

Coursework:
- Total Credits: A minimum of 53 credit hours of graduate coursework is required, which typically includes 18 courses.
- Transfer Credits: Students with a Master's degree from another institution can transfer up to 24 credits, while those with a Master's from ��ɫ�� University can transfer 30 credits, leaving additional credits to be completed at ��ɫ�� University.
- Concentrations: Coursework covers various concentrations such as pattern recognition, database systems, software development, medical informatics, robotics, artificial intelligence, information security, and molecular computing.
Comprehensive Examination:
- Taken after the completion of coursework, the comprehensive exam includes written examinations in three subject areas proposed by the student's Dissertation Advisor and approved by the Department Chair and Dean.
Dissertation:
- Students must submit and present a dissertation proposal for approval by the department and the Vice Provost for Graduate Studies.
- The dissertation involves original research and culminates in a written dissertation and an oral defense before a committee.
Additional Requirements:
- ENGR 991: Doctoral Qualification: All students must complete this research course under the guidance of a faculty member as part of their advancement to candidacy. This research will culminate in a written report, oral presentation, and oral examination at the end of the semester.
- Research: The program emphasizes significant research contributions, with students working closely with faculty advisors.
